Stoic cosmopolitanism doesn't mean that we should privilege people on the other side of the world or in distant spaces from us above those who are closest to us. Humans are built to live in close relationships with certain people, not with 8 billion people. It means that you believe everybody is equal and is kin and deserves dignity and respect and to be treated well. So we maintain our close relationships while recognizing that other people are just as valuable as our close friends.
