I've Never Seen So Many U.S. Marshals in a Single Courtroom

On September 23rd, 15 days after this extraordinary interview with Colin Powell, I was hauled into court and ambushed in the Southern District of New York. Judge Michael Mukasey said to me, you got a choice. If you want to keep your bail and go home and have your house and save your house, when this is done, you'll do what we say. Otherwise you're going to jail right now. And so I surrendered to prison. But I put it into the record that I wanted a hearing and that I was not sacrificing my right to a hearing after my prison sentence. Think about that. Then I was locked up on Carswell Air Force Base for a year.
