The Long Term and the Short Term Kind of Sensors of Energy Deficiency in Sport

Body fat stores are obviously energy availability for us to do general things that we might need to do. And then what we're eating on a day to day basis, that kind of shorter term feedback loop. People with higher body fat levels are going to be in the largest caloric deficits during the training period. In many cases, there will be people who actually are higher on the spectrum of body fat within that team. They probably have a coach who's delivering some heavy handed and maybe not super good advice about how lean they have to be to be effective and competitive in that sport.
