How to Pace Your Scenes

I wind up structuring my scenes using the mice question, quotient often. My decision about whether to have a scene break or to roll straight through into the next scene is a pacing question. In theater, there's two ways to do a scene break. You can cut to black, which is in fiction, you're writing the hashtag. Or you can do a through transition, where you see the characters actually moving the scenery and it is conveying information.
