The NEC: A Time of Remoteness
I think the NEC had felt quite remote for a while. And so I spent 13 years as a CLP secretary in Harriet Horman's constituency. It kind of felt like nobody listened to those of us who were pained on the streets every day. So it always felt like the NEC was this remote body that wasn't in touch. The volunteers are the backbone, you know, and I'm not there just to deliver leaflets or knock on doors. But they do have views and a voice and it's their party,.It's our party, we're all members. And they have a right to express those voices.
