The Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever

Rocky Mountain spotted fever is a bacterial infection caused by an organism called Raketsia, Raketsiai. It doesn't really even occur very often in the Rocky Mountains anymore because it's mostly in the south and southeast United States. The most common species of ticks that can carry it are the American dog tick and the Rocky Mountain wood tick. About 1 to 2% of these ticks are infected.
