Appetite Regulation in the Human Body
In the brain, there is this kind of competing activity between orexogenic and anorexogenic neurons. These are regions of the brain that are involved in a balance of factors that increase drive to eat,. And then we have the cannabinoid and dopaminergic systems in the brain which have been studied extensively as it relates to more hedonic responses to food intake. So I think as far as the processes that regulate this, we have obviously what people very broadly term homeostatic and hedonic aspects of eating.
