Keep off as to stop or withhold, or just deny yourself something. The next keep on doing something. So you go to the doctor, and he's very happy that you gave up red wine for a little while. Or the teacher will say to the class, i just have to go and see the head teacher. I'll be back in five minutes. And kids get along much, much better when there's some sort of routine to keep to. Even in these difficult times it's best to try and keep to the routine.
