A friend of mine from college, when she got married, knew they wanted to buy house. She and her husband did their darnedest to live on just one salary. So here's the hack. Imagine you or your spouse got laid off, and you're still trying to save for this house. This will accelerate any savings goals. Let me tell you, it is aggressive. It may sound preposterous. But if you really want to make this goal happen sooner rather than later, without putting it in the market, i don't recommend that.
