The Role of Local Art in the Oil Market
In 1969, when a million dollars was actually a lot of money, one Norwegian speculator decided to buy all the local art that he could find. A couple years later, once millionaires started looking for excuses to spend their money, they started coming and what do you know? They started bidding up the price of Norwegian art. And sure enough, our speculator was there once it had been bid up to show them a great offering. That to me kind of just encapsulates what a great speculator is about. It's somebody that's looking, you know, for the net for that edge or that kind of thing that everybody's missing.
