Sunnis vs Shias - What Is the Difference?
Sunnis and shias split over who should be in charge. The roots of it began after mohammed died right end. There was the dispute over whether abu baker is his successor, or whether mohammed had designated ali to be his successor. A later, ali, became caliph himself, but was assassinated in 661. And some years after his assassination, one of his young sons, hussein, tried to take up leadership and proclaim himself a caliph.
