YouTube's Algorithm and Radicalization

This chapter investigates how YouTube's recommendation algorithm can inadvertently lead vulnerable users toward extremist ideologies, driven by the platform's algorithmic suggestions. It discusses the unique challenges YouTube faces in content moderation compared to other social media platforms, and highlights individual stories of radicalization through personal viewing histories.
