The Upsides of AI Are Enormous and Most of Them Are Mundane

"I am incredibly excited about the good side of what AI can do," says Jim Boulden. "The idea that we're just going to suddenly accidentally create some super evil destroy all humans, gray goo AI ... I think it's total bullshit." The tech nerds call it maximizing the objective function - but he thinks there are more mundane uses for artificial intelligence such as education and creativity.
