Is There a Mass Extinction in the World?

It just seems so crazy that if there was a civilization that advanced that was wiped out, relatively speaking in a very short period of geological time. It's really not that long ago. Interesting to say it an asteroid hit or a meteor hit and we got taken out big time. I wonder how many in 4,000, 5,000 years, what kind of record we would leave? How permanent is our civilization? No, I agree with that too.
