The Mennonites in Paraguay
Mennonites are pacifists and a Baptist Christians who've been on the move through three continents over five centuries to try and preserve their way of life. Patrick Freason lives in Loma Plata, one of the most important Mennonite communities in Paraguay. Since the 1920s, the Mennonites have changed out of all recognition, huge parts of the Chagga. Dairy and beef farms and crops like soya cover areas of what had been forest, scrubblend and swamps. Environmentalists estimate that these farms have grown in a century from around 60,000 hectares to now reach 4.5 million. And they say this enormous growth is threatening indigenous communities
