What Happens When a Patient Drowns?

Small amounts of water cause laringo spasm, which leads to hypoia and loss of consciousness,. followed by respiratory failure and cardiac arrest. Predictors of poor outcome include prolonged submersion, time, altred mental status and severe acedemia. Start with air wave breathing and then circulation. Diagnostic testing depends on the severity of illness.
