In the new industrial state, John Kenneth Galbraith recognized that the blackboard economics of supply and demand did not reflect what was happening in the economy. Manaduro historian Alfred Chandler thought it was clear by 1977 that the invisible hand had fallen to the wayside. In Galbraith formulation, industrial firms required large technostructures of bureaucratic planning.
