The Long Strike and the Labour Movement in the 20th Century
I thought it would be nice to start off asking you how you arrived at that specific moment in the 20th century. The field of labour history had really developed with the rise and consolidation of the labour movement, working class political struggle. It was very disorienting for the field when Marxism and socialism kind of driven into serious retreat after 1980s. And so I wanted to try to tell a story that had the 1970s in its middle - trying to see what it meant to not just put the world of the factory behind us completely but act as though we're in a clean slate.
