Climate Models - How Do They Work?
Climate models are essentially the same models that we use for te weather forecast. They're based on mathematical equations, which represent our understanding of the physics of the climate system. These calculations are done for ten, thoud, tens of thousands of points across the earth's surface and many, many layers in the atmosphere. The computers that you've got running these models must be pretty big and pretty sophisticated,. because you can already begin to see how, when you put that across an entire globe, just how many degrees of separation you are away from what you're trying to do.
