United Fruit and the Information War in the US

In 1953, the Guatemalan government expropriated 200,000 acres of land from United Fruit. A massive lobbying effort began with master propagandist Edward Bernays. All in all, United Fruit spent about $500,000 selling America and its rulers on the coup d'etat. The information war in the US evolved into military action.
