The Myth of Welfare Dependence
The best evidence suggests that the effect zero, someone like Julio didn't have to get paid poverty wages for his job to exist. If he manned the grill in Denmark, for example, McDonald's, he would have got twice as much as he did manning it in California. The third myth is that government assistance disincentivizes people from working and leads to dependence on the government. It's just not empirically true.
