Hiring is one of the most high leverage things I can do for this company. The wrong hire in a critical role costs you two years, literally. It makes it hard to deal with the problems that you have. As a company gets bigger and bigger, you're basically getting a very distorted view of reality at the top. You also get these tussles between the departments,. like marketing, fighting sales, fighting engineering. They all have that, right? Sometimes I feel like some of these departments hate each other more inside a company than the Hater competitor.
