robert land goes back more than a hundred years to read an article about the animals of iceland. The oil eel, or rock awl, is something like a cross between a fish and a wire saw. Some say that the venom in the eel is so strong that itcorrodes the flesh and bone. It is also said to have thin scales as hard as iron, and its flesh is poisonous.
