Nicaea two is vague on how much it actually commits to the time of the apostles. The only thing that the decree explicitly and totally ties back to the apostles from the age of the council is the creation and use of sacred art. Nicaea two largely avoids making direct historical claims about apostolic icon veneration. But I think for a Protestant who's going into this conversation, even Gavin said in one of his videos, look, the church is saying here that it's infallible, we're saying it's not.
