The History of the Laserdisc
The invention of the Laserdisc can trace its roots back to 1958. The idea was that video could be reproduced through electron beam optical technology. In a rare move, Philips and MCA actually joined forces to develop the new format. But having two companies involved quickly led to quality control issues.
