The News Is a Distraction From the Real Question
In 1840s people were always asking what is the news about slavery. He says that eventually the majority will realize that slavery is wrong in the end if you do wait long enough the majority does usually come around to the right point of view but it will be too late he's absolutely explicit about this slaves will seem wrong to majority opinion when it no longer matters because damage has already been done. "The question about slavery is why are we doing this why haven't we stopped it news is a vast distraction"
