Ep 192: Where do ideas come from?
ToKCast
The Popurian View of Knowledge
In the popurian view, knowledge and ideas are kind of related. The classic philosophers from the 17th and 18th century were all most concerned about ideas more so than knowledge. What we think and what I'm saying knowledge is, again from Milato, is resilient information. Resilient here captures the quality of getting itself copied through error identification and correction over time to become instantiated in some physical substrate. This, getting itself copied property, happens precisely because something, people generally, find that information useful - hence it counts as knowledge.
