In your book, The Old Testament for a complex world, you're working some of these things out. You talk about how the biblical writers adapt popular culture. So could you explain what that means and what are the implications of that for understanding the Bible as an authoritative text? Yeah, I think it means that the texts of the Bible are in conversation with and developing from other ancient Near Eastern traditions in the communities that surrounded ancient Israel.
