The History of Salvia Divanorum
Salvia is a native plant to the Mexican state of Oaxaca. It's found in tropical rainforest at altitudes of about 300 to 1800 meters. The shamanistic usage of this plant was not to smoke it as people were doing with the extract in the United States before it was illegalized, but rather to make a tea from the leaves. This would make the effects more mild, but last longer, up to about 20 minutes.
