Is Mars Needing a Magnetosphere to Keep an Atmosphere?

No civilization able to put an atmosphere on a planet is going to think it's an impracticable chore to keep up with the leakage caused by not halving a magneto sphere. The majority of earth's loss is hydrogen that presumably start off as water vapor in the air. We leak helium and oxygen too, but at vastly smaller levels. This is because particles of gas are no different than spaceships. They can't escape earth without reaching earth's escape velocity,. roughly 11 kilometers, seven miles per second.
