The Mental Taxation of Starting a Task
A student with strong executive function will be able to naturally just chunk an assignment into smaller, duable bits. A kid with weak executive function skills may be so overwhelmed with the task that he becomes blind to the steps. So please, don't accuse a kid of not trying or not caring. You just don't know what's holding them back. And you could end up panalizing them and scrutinizing them for just a brain difference.
