There could have been some room for the client or the therapist in this incense, too. The more time you spend processing that kind of a shift around a legal or ethical you, the more it can start to feel almost like a power struggle. Even apologizing for the potential feeling of abruptness that came with this change is all fine and good but there is something to be said for a point of diminishing returns.
