i think there's a bit of a disconnectoand i can see it from both sides, right? Cause, specially in b c, like the fires, has been so crazy. Most of the communities look at that and just say, you know, we'll screw this. We're burning ourselves,. And then even when they want to burn, I've heard of lots where somebody sees smoke and then calls the emergency number - which is not as crazy as an existing process. So how do you make sure that government feels comfortable with this going on, but also insuring that?, he asks.

Cultural burns. Prescribed blazes. A healthy forest. What exactly is “good fire?” Let’s ask Indigenous fire scientist Dr. Amy Christianson, who is a co-host of the podcast ...Good Fire. This wonderfully generous and informed scholar took a quick break from her Canadian wilderness vacation to fill me in on Indigenous history, collaborations between Western science & First Nations elders, Aboriginal thoughts on cultural burns, flim-flam, evacuations, snowmelt, hunting strategies, land stewardship, happy trees, climate strategies, and the social science behind wildfire education. Also learning from Native wildfire fighters.
