The Rhetoric Isn't Helping

The tension associated with heightening the prominent position that politics, national politics, plays in our general consciousness is at a higher level than it was 10 years ago. People who are already personally in crisis are going to gravitate towards the obvious thing. Politics has a greater share in that than, let's say, the movie Taxi Driver did back when John Hinckley was fixating on his own weird fucking doesn't make any sense reasons to shoot Ronald Reagan Back in 1980.
