In Mark 15 verse 23, they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh. One last act they do before the crucifixion actually occurs. But Mark is crystal clear here: He Jesus received it not. Now at the time, and this was often the role of wealthy women, they would mix together wine and myrrh or vinegar or gall - whatever they could find as some kind of anesthetic. And however they feel about Jesus, if he deserves to die or if he's been condemned unjustly, there's no stopping it now.
