The Importance of Video Laryngoscopy in the Emergency Department
The laryngeal inlet is buried at the base of the tongue and shielded by the epiglottis. To overcome difficult anatomy, anesthesiologists often use a flexible endoscope frequently referred to as a fiber optic peroncoscope. The arrival of video laryngoscopy in the early 2000s offered clinicians a crucial tool to manage the difficult airway.
