The first lawsuits arguing that gay people should have a right to marry were filed soon after the Stonewall riots. Evan started working as a pro bono lawyer for gay rights organizations in the 1980s. He tried to bring what he had written in his law school thesis to his activism. The main reason why gay people are discriminated against is because of who we love.
