Guibert's Theory of the National Army

In 1770, French thinker Guibert argued for the creation of a national army. He believed it would be stronger than armies who fought for money or out of fear. In today's political and intellectual climate, you don't really hear arguments for progressive reform built around the goal of creating a more powerful military.
