The Problem With Regional Banks
I spent years trying to figure out if it was possible to create a bank that didn't lend, that basically just retained all those deposits. The problem for these banks is that the lines make up such a big portion of their book. So they are really subject to the business cycle. We just haven't seen much of a business cycle for a long time. For this reason, they're just all little black boxes. You can't get a good read on what's going on inside them.
