The Pairing of Animal Trapping to a Recommendation System

In the chapter about trapping, I talk about this, that on this move to sort of, you know, satisfaction, which is measured as duration. So these are things like monthly active users or dwell time, which is a very wonderful name for this. They do a bunch of things. So they appeal to satisfaction,which is a kind of measure that has a moral superiority in the tech industry. If you can say things you're doing, on behalf of the users, that's always sort of been winning. And it alsosort of makes use of the kind of data that is now available, right? You couldn't really do a lot of this stuff if it were the mid 90s
