The next morning, black jack blinks her eyes open. Vic is curled up at the bottom of her sleeping bag. She always checks on him as soon as she wakes up. He's lying on his back, like always, but he's uncannily still. Black jack realizes he's passed out again. It won't be much longer until he's gone. But now that she knows he doesn't blame her, she feels expectedly at peace.
