The Louisiana purchase on July 4th, 1803 can be considered a kin to the launch of Bitcoin on January 9, 2009. Jetta Dias Smith was the first to explore the Sierra Nevada mountains, cross the Mohave and discover the crucial South pass which would enable the Oregon Trail. In the process, he survived three Native American massacres and one bear mauling. Most early Bitcoiners have survived their share of hacks and attacks and all have been mauled by a bear or two.
