When I was growing up, mission meant telling people about Jesus so that they could believe in him and so go to heaven. And as I now look back over the last 50 years, and Joseph has talked about the reshaping of our thinking, I have come to realize that a great deal of what I took for granted as a young Christian was not Christianity, it was Platonism.
