The most common reason we miss these diagnoses is just not being thorough in our physical exam. We should be thinking first and foremost about the vision threatening stuff. Orbital compartment syndrome, globe rupture, retinal detachment and hyphema are some of the things to look out for when assessing an ocular trauma patient. It's real old school medicine.
