Is London a Pivotal Centre?

London looks to be in the middle of a number of kingdoms. Was it, even at this early stage, a pivotal centre? i suspect that the answer in the six and seventh centuries was no. Could be wrong, though. Either way, everyone join me in telling liz she needs to come and do a guest episode for us.
