Esotericism is fundamentally about the interconnectedness. Causation and effect is really the only thing we have to be concerned with. So people perceive a certain interconnectedness, and they they get bits of it, but they don't know enough. They are uncomfortable with ambiguity, so they fill in the blank pieces very, very poorly,.
