The Disadvantages of Using Language in Latinx

When we debate using words in Latinx, there are many members in the Latino community who don't accept that. On the other hand, you don't want to be pushed into using language that a very small minority of people are embracing until it becomes embraced by the larger society. I mean, I'm old enough to remember when Jesse Jackson first said we should not use black, but we should use African American. Over time, it settled in and it became not only accepted, but the more common usage.
