The New Thinkery
00:00
The Discourse, Part One
Russell is attacking the sciences, but he's doing it in the context of the sciences. The two parts are roughly equivalent in length, 12 pages each in this edition. A humble version of science whose main figure is Socrates features very prominently in the first part. And then a sort of vain contemporary science, and the contemporary practice of the sciences is especially pronounced in the second part. They're both treating both, but in a way, the humility of science is more in the foreground of part one, and the vanity of science ismore in the foreground part two.
