The Limits of the Law of Nature
This idea of the higher law, this idea of the natural law or the law of nature took different names at different times. It was a central concept of Western civilization and it never disappeared. The ruler may not do anything he wants, even if the ruler is a people. They can only do what is just. And what is just is determined by this law of nature.
