The Most Common Site of an Esophageal Perforation

The most common site of perforation is a distal esophagus on the left poster lateral aspect about 2-3 centimeters above the GE junction. It's very pertinent to where and how you manage this in the physiologic state of the patient. And then the underlying pathology, do they have cancer or caustic congestion? You're going to start with resuscitation and antibiotics from pyrric coverage to cover gram-negative rods, oral flora, anaerobes and fungus.
